Chris Evans will star as CAPTAIN AMERICA!

Yes, Chris Evans has been confirmed to star as Captain America. Many thanks to the REBEL for this piece of news! While i may not be an avid follow of Captain America, with what little knowledge i have from my childhood days of browsing through its comics, i agree with the Rebel that i do find Chris Evans rather unsuiting for this particular role.

Still can't quite get into my head Chris Evans as the All American Hero...
You may read the article here. Kudos to The REBEL again for this piece of news.

Hot Toys Iron Man 2: War Machine (Pictures Released)

IMG_4653b_370x538

And here we have it, in its full glory, War Machine, by Hot Toys.
Looking very impressive, and carrying a ton of heavy weaponry too.

Whilst i'd say everything looks perfect, despite the film not being out yet,
I'd go as far as to say i find James Rhodes/Don cheadle likeness is totally off.
While the features are discernable, it still strikes me as a way miss in the features department.

And pardon me for being a wet blanket as to say that his head looks squashed to the top of the helmet too.

Everything else looks mighty fine!

Seems pretty apparent, Hot Toys invested a significant amount of time in R&D to come up with the nifty little details like movable fingers and abdomen pieces. Though i hope they dont' come around with a BD/DX version, though i guess we'd all see that coming around if its popularity is overwhelming.

Hot Toys Iron Man 2: War Machine Official Teaser Picture

4426675696_d045aac3cd
There we have it, War Machine in all its glory.

I wonder if a jim rhodes headsculpt would be included with a removable faceplate,
if not it'd be pretty highly likely that we'd be seeing another version of War Machine,
knowing Hot Toy's milk em' licences dry policies, we'd certainly be able to see a Battle Damage variant sometime down the road.

Geek cool nevertheless...

Hot Toy's Next License

Looks like its official that Hot Toys will be doing Blade II for their next license. Darn, i was so looking forward to a Hannibal King from Blade III. Guess i gotta place my bets for a deadpool from X-men Origins Line then.

Disney Buys Marvel Entertainment for US$4 Billion

There you have it, as of this morning, Disney now owns Marvel Entertainment. Whilst most fanboy comic book fans are out all over the world ranting and screaming about the endless possibilities of foul ups and mess ups, screw ups and even sell outs,

i say let us be patient, let us wait and see.
while i wouldn't say the news didn't surprise me, i wont' say it isn't amusing either. I wonder if we'd get to start seeing Marvel characters roaming around Disneyland when it all goes through. Though i'd very much love to see Disneyland stay the same way it does, with its classic characters and all.

and to those already mourning, weeping, tearing their hair out in despair, lets wait and see...a good justification would be how Warner Bros accquired DC and still managed to do such a good job with BATMAN. We'd never know if Disney could be the key to good funding for better quality films from marvel.

If you didn't yet know Marvel actually sold much of its licenses for the rights to their comics to be adapted to film. For example, the Punisher and Blade, due to them being unable to fund it themselves, and Iron Man was the very first that they had a chance to fully finance. Perhaps with Disney all these woes would be easily solved.

My only take on this, is that i'm surprised. wow....Disney...i wasn't half expecting that though. but all in all, lets just wait and see folks.

Hot Toys: Marvel Licence

from the small font, taken directly from EDDIE WONG of www.eddiewong.net

====================================
Yes, that is right folks. Hot Toys has the license to the Marvel Universe. And the pic above is the announcement teaser from HT’s official catalog.

For those that cannot read Japanese, here’s what it say:

Left side: Movie Masterpiece. Starting soon.
Right: Blade trilogy, X-Men trilogy, Spider-Man trilogy, & more…

Movie Masterpiece, not comic versions. This means, those that have longed for a good Spidey 1/6th figure, you’re about to get one. And it’s the trilogy they’re doing which means you will get Spidey, Green Goblin, Doc Ock, Venom, and Sandman to say the least!

This also means you ‘ll probably be able to get every X-Men character in the movies to date since HT is also doing the trilogy series for X-Men. Then Blade! Man, bankruptcy will surely be on the rise this year…

==============================
Spiderman and X-men, talk about a massive churning of figures. Though i understand the necessity for Hot Toys to hit the markets in storm and full force, reason being the rise in competitors, such as Brothers Production, DID, Enterbay making equal if not better products and licences that Hot Toys hasn't acquired. Hence this sudden upsurge in licences are to cement its crown position as 1/6th scale toy makers...
though its gonna take a toll on us collectors, nevertheless, i'm still excited.
Black costumed spidey and the classic red/blue, and most of all, HANNIBAL KING played by ryan reynolds! boy i'd love to get my hands on his headsculpt! possible Deadpool kitbash! Though blade himself doesn't quite interest me.

Marvel Legends Black Costumed Spiderman

This isn't a recurring post, it's Marvel Legends, not unleashed. And yes, Mirrornoob, i got you the figure you wanted on your behalf.

Somehow no matter what i do i can't get the flash away from spidey's crotch.

I was actually roaming around kinokuniya for some books when i just decided to drop by takashimaya to check out if there were anything new, and hoping to catch the Unleashed iron man that i missed out. And, i found this, the toy Mirrornoob was looking for, which he saw a few weeks back ( there was only one piece left that time) , and he wanted to purchase it, but carelessly left at a corner and in a second was snapped up by someone else.
Hence i took the opportunity this time around to do Mirrornoob a favour. Knowing full well how disappointed he was the last time.
To sum it up, the figure is pretty decent with very good articulation but i'm not so fond of it as the articulation and paintwork thrown into the figure somewhat makes the joints and cuts stand out.
Considering that this particular spidey is painted in almost a near shade of black, the joints and swivel wrists etc would stand out much more as compared to say, a regular spidey where there would be much more paintwork and ''netting'' over his body which would hide the joints well.
The plus side however would be its paintwork, instead of a standard matt black coat of paint all over like the Unleashed line, this spidey has a tinge of the comic bookesque colouring, black with dashes of dark blue hues to accent this spidey's come to life from comic look. Which is a mega PLUS factor.
it also comes with a left arm of the red hulk, a part of six which you have to collect from the series' line.
Lastly, this figure goes at $26.90, but with the on going 20% sale for some items at taka', it's now $21.52, a real good deal for a good figure like this. Go check it out.

Iron Man ( hulkbuster armor ) Jin Saotome's custom

Jin Saotome’s Custom figure, ladies and gentlemen. His personal interpretion of what the Iron Man in hulkbuster armor would look like. It is customized and painted by him. And by the looks of it, the head's from the mark 3 ironman, the body's most likely warmonger. Attached together and given a faaaaaantastic repaint.

auctioned off at ebay for over $500. whew* ..

Check out his deviant art site. Endless tons of artwork ( customs )

Catch of the Day

Went on my weekly 'checkpoints' patrol routine to scout for any interesting items and came up with this today, which was a far cry from what i originally intended. ( stormtroopers and more stormtroopers to build up the 3 3/4 inch empire; attribute that to the whole the Force Unleashed enthusiasm). Cost me $39.90.
Considering that it looked fantastic and was reasonably priced for an approximately 9 1/2 inch figure. well, here goes my catch of the day: Marvel Legends: Unleashed black costume spider-man.

Back of box

Box Art

A pretty decent figure with a nice sculpt in general. The packaging's pretty good and i don't intend on opening it as yet. This figure boosts 34 points of articulation though there're no swivel biceps and thighs or calves like the movie's spiderman which in my opinion, makes the figure look better. Despite its relatively steep price of $39.90, it appears to be a pretty solid figure and i like the matt black paint used on this Black Costumed spider-man as opposed to the marvel legends version which was rather shiny and looked much more like a kid's play thing. A definitive addition to my collection this figure will be, i must say.
